Project Overview

Illusio Imaging sought to redefine plastic surgery consultations by enabling patients to visualize potential surgical outcomes in real-time using augmented reality (AR). The iOS app, developed as an MVP (Minimum Viable Product), would scan a patient's torso and leverage AR technology to showcase the potential results of procedures like breast enhancement, fostering informed decision-making.

The Challenge
  • Mesh Scanning Limitations: The iPad's processing capabilities struggled to handle the intricate 3D scans required for accurate AR visualizations.
  • Secure Integration: Establishing a secure connection between the iPad, Unity, and the server while enabling dynamic updates posed a significant challenge.
  • Performance Bottlenecks: The iPad's hardware couldn't keep up with the demanding real-time AR processing, leading to performance issues.
The Solution
  • Advanced Mesh Processing on AWS: We leveraged the power of AWS to handle complex 3D mesh operations, ensuring accurate and realistic AR visualizations, even on the iPad.
  • Seamless Unity Integration: We implemented Unity asset packages to facilitate the smooth integration of server-generated assets into the app, creating a dynamic and responsive user experience.
  • Scalable customer-Server Architecture: By offloading computationally intensive tasks to a high-performance AWS server, we ensured a seamless and responsive user experience on the iPad, even within the MVP's initial feature set.
The Results
  • Accurate, Real-Time Visualizations: The app successfully generated precise, real-time AR visualizations on the iPad, empowering patients to make confident and well-informed decisions about their plastic surgery options.
  • Secure and Functional App: We delivered a secure and fully functional AR app that met core client goals and laid a strong foundation for future development
  • Positive User Experience: The app's intuitive interface and smooth performance contributed to a positive user experience for both cosmetic surgeons and patients
Key Features
  • Advanced Mesh Processing: AWS expertly handled intricate 3D mesh operations, ensuring accurate and realistic AR visualizations within the MVP scope.
  • Seamless AR Integration: Unity asset packages facilitated the smooth integration of server-generated assets into the app.
  • Scalable Architecture: The server's ability to manage heavy processing workloads guaranteed a seamless and responsive user experience on the iPad, even with the MVP's initial feature set.
  • Secure Operation: Robust security measures safeguarded patient data and app functionality across all platforms.
  • Easy-to-Use Interface: The app's intuitive interface allowed surgeons to efficiently and precisely demonstrate potential surgery outcomes to their patients.
